HIMILAYAN MOUNTAIN ABHYANGA
Abhyanga means full body oil massage by one or more therapists. Our treatment calls for one therapist working on one side of the body at a time using warmed aromatic oils to nourish the skin and mobilize deeper tissues. During the massage marmas (secret energy points) are used to freshen and revitalize the body. Finally, a warmed ubtan, herbal powder, is sprinkled over the whole body to polish the skin leaving you feeling light, energized and relaxed. This abhyanga treatment is deeply revitalizing and relaxing whilst at the same time being gently cleansing and detoxifying. The use of marma points, customized quality oils and herbal ubtan leaves the client feeling clear, calm, strengthened and more balanced on a deep level. THEORY

MARMAS AND MUD MAGIC A warm footbath and foot massage with a special "three metal" bowl begins this unique treatment helping clients to unwind and focus on their heart feelings. Certain marmas (vital energy points) are gently touched from head to toe and anointed with aromatic lotions in a traditional Tibetan sequence that systematically brings calmness and clarity to the mind. Finally, the client's arms and legs are covered with a fine layer of specially blended Indian clay and herbs that increases the flow of prana (life energy) and helps one to feel stronger and more grounded. This is a wonderful treatment for people under a lot of psychological stress and who are in need of a mental rest and more physical energy. TIBETAN SHIRODHARA
Our Tibetan Shirodhara treatment provides the space to go deep, experience profound relaxation, and feel totally supported. We have brought together four Tibetan massage techniques in a seamless rhythm ending with shirodhara, the pouring of a continuous stream of warm oil over the middle of the forehead to profoundly relax the body and bring peace and clarity to the mind. Tibetan Shirodhara gently coaxes the clients to rest in a quiet space and experience their true selves - a deeply nurturing and psycho - spiritual experience. This is a process that demands a therapist to develop and embody a mindful attitude and create a space for their client that is both safe and 'sacred.' If given in such an environment, the client will have an experience that is physically nurturing, mentally calming and which will help them become more in touch with their inner being. THEORY *Bringing balance to the three doshas, subtle energies, by working on particular parts of the body such as the abdomen, the eyes and the chest *Indicators and precautions for offering the shirodhara treatment *How shirodhara works *Customizing the oils, oil temperature, and pattern of application for shirodhara PRACTIAL *palpating diagnostic points *Tibetan marma point massage for relieving psychological stress *abdominal massage using oil, marma points and the application of a warm Tummy Warmer *Tibetan Eye Rejuvenation therapy for relief of stress held around the eyes. CLASSES IN SAN LUIS OBISPO TRAINING HOURS
Each treatment requires a three-day training, 9 am.- 5 pm. each day, with one hour for lunch, making 21 hours of classroom time in all. CLASS CONTENT
Students will be offered Ayurvedic theory that relates to the treatment, full demonstration of each part of the treatment and ample time for practical hands-on experience, including giving and receiving the treatment. This ensures that students have confidence and proficiency at delivering this service and being familiar with how each treatment can feel for their clients. ADVICE TO STUDENTS The treatments are simple but require finesse and focus to be effective. There is no better way of learning than by doing. Because we have so much information to share we are limited on classroom practice time so we suggest you treat friends or family members six times before offering services to the public. Treating front desk, sales staff or any one else that talks to your clients helps a great deal with marketing new services as they are then able to tell about benefit from first hand experience. CERTIFICATION A Certificate of Completion is offered as conformation of attendance for each 21 hour course. Only one hour total can be missed for any reason for the student to still get a certificate. Most certifying boards accept our programs for CEU purposes. PLEASE consult with your respective board ahead of time. If class description and program details are needed by your board, we shall be happy to send them that information. These courses alone do not allow students to give Ayurvedic treatments professionally. Participants must either be registered as students of or licensed in massage, cosmetology or aesthetics, chiropractic or other allied or similar medical practice. TUITION FEES Price per student $395 for this 3 day (21 hour total) training. Fees includes a training manual, product for classroom use, Certificate of Completion, light lunch and afternoon tea. REFUND POLICY Students are entitled to a full refund of all fees paid for a program up to 10 days before a program begins. If cancellation occurs after that date and up to the first day of the program, $100 of the deposit made will be kept for administrative costs. If there is no notification provided by the student, all fees paid will be retained by Diamond Way Ayurveda. To cancel attending a program, please call or fax 805-543-9291, call toll-free at 866-303-3321, or email us at ayurveda8@earthlink.net. NOTE: Diamond Way Ayurveda does not participate in the Student Tuition Recovery Fund. Also, for those attending classes in San Luis Obispo: Any questions or problems concerning this school that have not been satisfactorily answered or resolved by the school should be directed toi the Bureau of postsecondary and Vocational Education in the Department of Consumer Affairs, 400 "R" Street, Suite 5000, Sacramento, CA 95814-6200, Telephone (916)445-3427.

FOR OUR HOST... As our host we invite you and one helper to attend the program free of charge and keep all monies made in excess of agreed upon expenses outlined in a signed contract. After our experiences with working in house with spas and training centers over the years we request that you honor the following guidelines: · Give us the time we request for each protocol. We are consistently asked to reduce the time frame. In our experience this is false economy. With Ayurvedic treatments it is essential your staff have both a theoretical and practical grasp of the treatments to be able to present themselves as credible professionals. Plus, the more confident your staff feels about performing a service after training the more they will enthusiastically promote that service. This is especially true if staff are going through an intensive training period prior to opening or re-training. · Give your staff time to attend the training. Training time should be exclusively devoted to training. It is very disruptive to a class if staff come and go to give other treatments, tasks or appointments. · Consider asking your staff to pay for a percentage of the training cost. This helps staff appreciate the opportunity you are offering them and makes them more highly motivated students. · One room large enough to accommodate all the staff in the training is most effective. · Appoint one person to organize the training area and be responsible for having all products and equipment available. They should also organize set up and clean up help. · Staff should wear their uniforms during training. · No food or drinks other than water allowed in the training area. No chewing gum during treatment practice. · Structure time for your staff after the training to give and receive a minimum of three treatments to each other and/or front desk staff. · Include front desk staff in the training. They need to understand and be able to confidently communicate about new services. We provide a training manual that includes an overview of the theoretical aspects of the treatment and a detailed description of the practical treatment protocol for each staff member/student. A master copy will be available for your records together with a list of products and equipment needed and order blanks from the best sources of supply. A list of products, equipment and classroom needs will be provided prior to the class. We provide product and any specialized equipment needed in the training session. For supplies of products and/or equipment for on going treatments we provide all ordering information. Courses are taught by Melanie and some by Robert Sachs please check the following list for who teaches on which topics.
We thank you for your interest in our services. If you need further information or assistance please contact Melanie or Robert Sachs in one of the following ways indicated in the "How To Contact Us" portion of the website.
