EAST COAST TRAINING DATES: TBA

Description: Ayurvedic Face Rejuvenation is a three part series designed to be a 60 to 90-minute hands on service that has three parts.

 OPENING - quickly calms, balances and relaxes even the most high drive client.

  • MARMA - specific points and strokes are used on the face to revitalize the tissues. This sequence fits in well as the massage portion of any facial.
  • CLOSING - pleasantly invigorating sequence to refresh the body and clear the mind so the client can leave relaxed but alert.

The unique combination of gentle, balancing touch, use of marmas (vital energy) points, stimulating scalp and ear massage, together with aromatic oils/lotions can deeply calm, refresh, re-energize your face and whole being. The parts may be used together and combined with questionnaires, product advice and relaxation time to make a 90-minute service. Segments of this protocol can used as an add on service or can be included and adapted in addressing specific problems such as tired eyes, sinus problems, or jaw tension.

Tibetan Shirodhara
WEST COAST TRAINING DATES:

April 10th-12th

EAST COAST TRAINING DATES: TBA

Description: SHIRO means "head" and DHARA means "stream."  So SHIRODHARA, literally translated from the Sanskrit means to play a fine stream of warm liquid on the head. In the spa setting, most often the liquid played is oil that may or may not be infused with herbs. Buttermilk,very concentrated salt solutions, and hydrosols can also be used.  In general, what we at Diamond Way Ayurveda recommend for spas is to use refined sesame oil. (Many of the herbally infused shirodhara oils are best used in clinical settings and simply add unnecessary expense for spa operators.) In the spa setting,the stream of oil flows between 10 to 25 minutes, using about 1.25 pints of oil.  In a more clinical setting under the care of an Ayurvedic physician, the oil may stream up to 48 minutes.

In either a spa or clinical situation, the oil most often flows in a steady stream on the middle of the forehead, the point that is also known as the "third eye" or Ajna chakra.  Shirodhara can also be done by playing the oil on the crown of the head, again a chakra point, which is a Tibetan style, or in various patterns on the forehead.

Tibetan Shirodhara is the name we have given to the signature treatment we teach and practice.  It is a 90-minute sequence that brings together four Tibetan body therapies in a seamless rhythm and is designed to help balance all of the subtle energies of the body - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - and take the client on a personal journey into a peaceful and profoundly deep state of relaxed awareness.

Who Benefits from Receiving Tibetan Shirodhara?

 Shirodhara is called psycho-spiritual massage in Tibetan medicine.  We feel it is the treatment that most embodies a total mind, body, and spirit experience and we recommend it for clients that need:

 * deep relaxation and/or stress reduction

 * rejuvenation after deep cleansing

 * headaches/migraines

 * Insomnia

 * anxiety

 * better decision making power

 * better clarity and focus

 * to quickly recover from jetlag

 * to deeply rest and nourish the nervous system

Himalayan Mountain Abhyanga
WEST COAST TRAINING DATE:

June 12th-14th

EAST COAST TRAINING DATE: TBA
Description: Abhyanga is the full-body oil massage of Ayurveda.  In this technique, not only are the strokes and points touched and the order in which they are touched important. Likewise, the products that are used, the oil, lotions, and ubtan powders, are also extremely important.  They feed the skin and the entire body-mind.  In Himalayan Mountain Abhyanga, we combine aspects from both the Indian and Tibetan traditions of Ayurveda.  And, it is an excellent technique to use as snehan or massage for purva karma prior to Panchakarma.

Class time will be divided between theory and practice.  By the end of the class, participants will have given and received each part of the treatment as well as a full treatment in its entirety.
